“Adding years to people's lives through the magic of science and medicine, however impressive, is an insufficient ambition for American Society. Our objective, must be to add new life to those years.”

President

Books (22)

As with any other subject, books on aging abound. The SCF has reviewed and assembled a bibliography of titles that we believe represents some of the best writing on the subject of aging. From books on the history of aging, to books by and about older women, you will find a broad range of writing in this collection of titles which will be updated regularly.

Films (12)

Feature films and prime-time television programs tend to ignore those at middle age and beyond. Here the SCF lists notable exceptions, films that present realistic images of aging, or that raise issues of concern to people who are aging. Some explore intergenerational relationships; others focus on the challenges and rewards of care-giving, the potential for growth and insight late in life, and the relationships of long-married couples.

Web Sites (44)

The internet has changed life in ways most of us could never have imagined. Today, without leaving your computer you can do comparison shopping, order gifts for children or grandchildren, settle arguments about dates in history, get in touch with old friends almost instantaneously through email, read a blog or write your own, pay your bills, and much, much more. The Web is almost too much of a good thing. With all those possibilities, how do you find the specific things you need?

In this section, SCF begins a listing of web sites that seem particularly useful for people who are interested in the issues of aging, are concerned about how to help themselves or older relatives, or are aging themselves (isn’t everybody?) and have questions about it. We are not endorsing the sites below; we just want to give visitors to SCF a taste of what’s out there. We’ll add to the list periodically.
