“Bending the Curve: Options for Achieving Savings and Improving Value in U.S. Health Spending”

This report reviews 15 federal policy options that have been suggested as ways to reduce health care spending in the U.S.

A report prepared for The Commonwealth Fund Commission on a High Performance Health System, December, 2007. By Cathy Schoen, M.S., Stuart Guterman, Anthony Shih, M.D., M.P.H., Jennifer Lau, Sophie Kasimow, Anne Gauthier, M.S., and Karen Davis, Ph.D.  The authors consider 15 federal policy options that have been suggested as ways to reduce health care spending in the U.S. They conclude that, if some of those policies were to be combined with universal health insurance, over the next  10 years spending on health care would still grow but by $1.5 trillion less than predicted, and the quality of care and access to it would improve.
